Pakistan celebrates relaunch of PIA flights from Dubai to Skardu
Non-stop flights to boost tourism and travel ties with UAE
DUBAI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has officially resumed its direct flight service from Dubai (DXB) to Skardu (KDU), with the inaugural flight taking off tomorrow (Friday).
It marks a significant step in promoting tourism in Pakistan’s northern regions, known for their breathtaking natural beauty and growing popularity among international travellers.
To celebrate the re-launch, a ceremonial cake-cutting was held at the PIA office in Dubai. The event was attended by Consul General Hussain Muhammad, reflecting the strong diplomatic and cultural ties between the UAE and Pakistan.

A group of foreign tourists, flying on the inaugural service, added a symbolic touch to the celebration, highlighting renewed global interest in Gilgit-Baltistan’s mountain landscapes.
Dubai to Skardu
The PIA Regional Manager for the UAE, Sarmad Aizaz, and his team organised the event, which brought together members of the Pakistani community, airline staff, and UAE-based officials. The initiative is aimed at re-establishing accessible air routes for tourists, expatriates, and adventure seekers looking to explore Skardu – a gateway to some of the world’s highest peaks.
The resumed Dubai-Skardu service is expected to enhance air connectivity between the Gulf and northern Pakistan, particularly during the summer travel season. The region, situated at an altitude of over 7,300 feet, serves as a base for trekking expeditions and eco-tourism.
PIA’s direct route reduces the need for transit stops, offering a convenient and time-saving option for travellers.
